Our innovations have led to changes in government policy in Australia and New Zealand, and continue to break new ground, particularly in the social sector. Qantas liked our approaches in analytics so much, it bought a 51 per cent stake in our business in 2015.
Over time, we’ve grown to 100 staff, and are still growing.
About our Advanced Analytics practice
Our Advanced Analytics practice uses the latest statistics, machine learning and data science research and techniques to help our clients make the most of their data, find solutions to their business problems and realise true value.
The team works on projects across a broad range of industries and challenges, dealing with complex and varied datasets from some of Australia’s largest organisations. Our specialist expertise and experience spans personalised marketing, insurance pricing, customer loyalty, resource optimisation, mental health analytics, and modelling government service usage.
We provide our clients with insights and advice to improve their performance. Working alongside client engineering teams, we help build and embed machine learning and analytics systems in their everyday business practices.
About the role
We’re seeking a Manager with advanced analytics/data science capabilities to join our Advanced Analytics team in our Sydney or Melbourne offices.
This is a multifaceted role, where you’ll get involved in a wide variety of projects, while developing the skills of newer consultants. This means you’ll be involved in the entire lifecycle of projects, including:
- Understanding client needs
- Designing and implementing advanced analytics solutions
- Communicating results.
In addition, you’ll work closely with Directors and Principals to manage client relationships and identify and pursue new opportunities in the market.
We’re dedicated to being at the forefront of new developments. As a result, you’ll be encouraged to:
- Flex your creative muscles and be involved in R&D projects, including developing our internal data science toolset
- Attend top global data science and analytics conferences, and use the knowledge you gain to improve our offerings to clients
- Write articles and papers, and present at conferences.
As a Manager in our Advanced Analytics team, your deep technical skills will underpin your role in managing client needs, developing solutions, and communicating results and insights.
You enjoy being part of and contributing to a supportive working environment, recognising the value each person brings. A creative thinker with a keen commercial sense, you’ll have at least four years’ experience working in advanced analytics, data science or an actuarial role in consulting, corporate or social sectors.
You enjoy keeping up with new research, techniques and developments in statistics and machine learning, and are motivated by the opportunity to apply these ideas in developing new solutions to tackle our clients’ real-world problems.
You’ll bring the following skills and attributes:
- An inquisitive mindset with a love for solving complex business challenges
- Deep understanding of predictive modelling, statistics and/or machine learning and scripting languages such as SAS, R, Python and other relevant languages
- Ability to interpret and analyse complex technical data, with high attention to detail
- Enthusiasm for sharing your knowledge and training team members
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to liaise with clients and diverse stakeholder audiences.
